Recollections II
Recollections II brings together vintage photographs and contemporary auction catalog imagery, replacing the subjects’ faces with artworks drawn from the secondary market. Through this act of substitution, the portraits become sites of altered memory, where identity is obscured and value stands in for presence. The series considers how memory, like the archive, is continually revised, shaped as much by what is removed as by what is preserved.
