Pair / Pairs

Using photographs culled from my family photo archive, Pair / Pairs are a play-on-words with text of objects that come in or as pairs overlaying the pair of people depicted in the photograph.  The cheeky and colorful collages borrow objects of domesticity: images of flowers, a single dash of embroidery thread, a page from a 1947 Encyclopedia Brittanica, jewels and vintage cookbook recipes, to name a few.  These images evoke a shared nostalgia, questioning the language of domesticity, memory of the home, and sense of place in history.
